EUGENE, Ore. – This week is the 24th annual Women in Construction Week, recognizing women in the industry across the country.
Envision Equity is the theme of this year’s celebration, which runs from March 6 to 12.
As part of this week’s Skilled to Work segment, KEZI 9 News talked to Cassandra Dare, project manager at Chambers Construction.
“Today, I see women in the field everywhere,” Dare said. “We have three project engineers with Chambers alone. Women in construction, we are boots on the ground at the job sites, and we all love our jobs.”
The National Association of Women in Construction has more than 100 chapters across the country, including one in Eugene. They offer memberships to women who work in the trade and provide education, support and networking to help them advance in their careers. Women who work on construction-related business in related fields are also welcome, from finance to legal and beyond.
You can go to the nawiceugene.com website for a full list of events being held during the week. They’ll have speakers, membership meetings, volunteer events and more. You can register to attend on the website.
