A woman was critically injured Thursday after falling from an apartment building in Northwest Washington, D.C., with her legs bound, according to authorities.
One suspect, who was on scene at the time of the incident, has been arrested in connection to the incident, the Metropolitan Police Department said.
“A suspect arrived on the scene. He was distraught. He provided some information that led us to believe he was a suspect in this case and has since been placed under arrest,” MPD Cmdr. Duncan Bedlion said in a press conference.
The woman appeared to fall from the eighth floor of the apartment building shortly after 7 p.m. on Thursday in what police described as a “domestic incident,” according to WTOP. She appeared to have “some type of rope” or item tied near her legs, police said.

Shortly after responding to the incident, police issued an alert for a missing 1-year-old child, who has been identified as the victim and suspect’s son. The child was later found unharmed at the residence of a family member, Bedlion said.
The victim was taken to a hospital and was in stable but critical condition with serious injuries as of Thursday night.
A firearm was recovered, and animal control was called because there was “some type of reptile” found in the building, police said.
