Portable metal buildings are normally used for storage purposes, the most common being in the construction industry. Materials and tools are stored within for safekeeping. Construction offices are also set up to house the team during site work. Sometimes, the buildings are set up as temporary residences for the workers if the site is located too far away for daily travel to and fro their homes.
Dimensions of these portable metal buildings range in size, depending on their requirements. A small unit to function as a guardhouse or traffic control is large enough to house no more than a handful of people with adequate space for equipment. A larger one can be compartmentalized to have multiple rooms for various purposes. This comes in handy for a construction site office. Much larger ones are normally used as storage for agricultural or industrial needs.
Since it’s not a permanent structure, the metal buildings can be mounted on concrete slabs to raise them above ground level. Depending on the region’s climatic conditions, this will prevent flood waters from seeping in or being snowed in.
These portable buildings are constructed for better cost management as permanent buildings sink their investments into the ground. The buildings can be literally uprooted and moved to a new location as and when required. Some can be disassembled and reassembled accordingly whereas others may be transported atop trailer platforms. For added portability, some may already be affixed with wheels for easy towing.
Stability is crucial for these portable buildings as they have no permanent structure as their base and are not bored into the ground. As such, they are built with extremely strong and durable materials to withstand movements generated by external and internal elements, guaranteeing no toppling over. Some are sturdy enough whereby those within don’t feel vibrations and movements of others around them, thus giving the impression they are on a permanent structure.
Sound bounces a little more on metal structures. Thus, some form of sound-proofing is required for noise reduction.
