MEXICO CITY (AP) — The volunteer activists who search for the bodies of their missing relatives have long been under threat in Mexico. But this week one of them took the unusual step of issuing a public plea to drugs lords in the northern border state of Sonora, to allow the “Searching Mothers” to do their work.
Some searchers have been killed, many others have been threatened and men in vehicles — believed to be drug gang gunmen — often keep watch on their search efforts. All of that forced Patricia “Ceci” Flores to flee Sonora in July, after a fellow activist was murdered.
On Sunday she posted a video asking the drug lords to let her search. Flores has two missing sons and is a founder of Madres Buscadores de Sonora (Searching Mothers of Sonora).

A Lancaster County judge will begin hearing arguments Tuesday to determine whether state prosecutors can keep two houses, at least $162,000 in cash, five cars and thousands of dollars in car parts, tools and gift cards.

Deputies seize ‘hundreds of pounds’ of marijuana, guns, cash in Lane County drug bust, officials say
Sheriff’s deputies seized a massive amount of drugs, more than a dozen guns and tens of thousands in cash after they raided a large-scale production facility in Lane County on Thursday, officials said.
The Lane County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a stolen vehicle on a property in the 27000 block of Lawrence Road outside of the town of Elmira, which is about 15 miles west of Eugene.
While deputies were investigating the vehicle, they came upon a large butane marijuana hash oil extraction lab, officials said. These types of labs, which are illegal in Oregon unless the operator has a license, can be dangerous because of the potential for explosions associated with butane.
Investigators obtained a search warrant for the rest of the property and another address in nearby Veneta. They discovered a home that was being used entirely for the cultivation of suspected psilocybin mushrooms, an illegal
